And it all started with our main guy, Ray Palmer, in our home town of Byron Bay....

• 1981….

  1981 saw the small beginnings of "Tandem Skydiving" at a centre on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. Ray Palmer was a pioneer of this new adventure sport for thrill seekers everywhere! And now, 30 plus years on, Ray is still skydiving and leads our crew!

• BYRON BAY…

  In 1994 Ray decided to move the operation to the idyllic seaside town of Byron Bay on the New South Wales northern coast. An area which is now famous for it's world class beaches and heritage rainforest clad hinterland. Cape Byron is also Australia's most easterly point and surrounded by ocean and tropical rainforest. We can't thank him enough for moving our Head Quarters to paradise!

• THE FUN STUFF…

  Ray is actually pretty famous and the Skydive Australia team are proud to still boast him as one of our Chief Instructors. He began Skydiving at age 20 and during his career clocked up a number of achievements - He was THE GUY in the Coca-Cola advert sky surfing in 1991..remember that?!! It was aired in 160 countries around the world!

• CRICKET ANYONE?

  He was one of only 4 sky surfers in the world in the 90s, and when the MCG wanted a cricket bat delivered by air he promptly obliged and Sky Surfed his way to the match for the cricket world cup! Lucky he did... how would they have continued the game without him..? Ahh Ray, so much to thank you for!!

• MORE DROP ZONES!!

  Thanks to Ray and his dedicated and growing team he and his partners have been able to build on their incredible reputation and have now acquired 5 locations on the East Coast of Australia. Staying true to their beliefs and their vision, Skydive Australia now offers all you the opportunity to experience professional standards and service wherever you choose to Tandem with us!

  We are currently working behind the scenes to bring our tandem clients and our solo jumpers the best possible experiences the skydiving world has to offer!
